You Film - We Edit

Camcorders have come a long way over the last decade, with the introduction of electronic or optical image stabilisers, the high recording quality of the modern tape format and virtually all the functions being fully automated. By combining some basic filming skills with our creative editing and postproduction facilities, extremely good professional looking results can be achieved. Many of you have the flare and ability for good video filming, but would prefer to have the editing and DVD production carried out professionally.

DVedit

DVedit is the new name for the Direct Video editing and DVD production side of Beacon Video; and has been set up specifically to make it easy for customers with their own video tape footage to access our professional services via the internet and by post. We have now been carrying out postproduction work for our own filming as well as for video film work created by others for over ten years.

Help and Advice

Before setting up professionally Beacon Video was made up of a group of short film makers who both individually and as a group received many awards and commendations for their work, having some of the short films broadcast by ITV Meridian Television. This means that in addition to our professional editing and postproduction service we are also in the fairly unique position of being able to offer you advice, help and support with your filming projects.

We offer a wide range of services from our ‘Quick video to DVD transfer service’, editing your weddings and holidays right up to special interest and small to medium size business projects with a production runs of 1 to 1000 copies

Security of your original material.

Video footage, Music and Photographs

We strongly advise that you send all your original material by special delivery or a trusted courier. When we receive your parcel we will copy all your tape material,  music tracks and photographs, into digital files on a high capacity HDD (hard disk drive). The original tapes and other items are then safely stored ready to be returned to you when your DVD has been completed. If you have given us your e-mail address we send you confirmation of the parcels safe arrival. After the 1st DVD has been produced it posted out to you. Once we receive confirmation the DVD has arrived and all is OK, we will send any additional DVDs ordered along with all the original items you sent to us. (Standard royal mail, recorded/special delivery depending on your request)

Our Editing styles and options

 We offer a choice of editing styles and (options) preset packages  designed to accommodate your requirements and budget or we can individually tailor a package especially for your project.

 Our ranged of preset packages and editing solutions are shown on the home page and can also be selected directly from the contents column shown on the left of each page.

Editing requires both an artistic and technical skill it cannot be carried out automatically and depending on the editing style can involve a considerable amount of man-hours. For our basic editing, the time required is generally between 1.5 to 2 times the duration of the original video footage so 1 hour of original takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to edit. At the other end of the scale our  production editing is up to 10 or more times ie 10 man-hours for each hour of original footage. > more info

DVD disc and Cases

All our edited DVDs (unless otherwise stated) come with Menu’s Titles and Chapters individually created and set up during the editing process .We only use full face printable manufacturer brand disc that are printed on directly in full colour (we do not use  disc labels). The cases are full size DVD library cases with a full colour printed insert using personalised graphics made from images taken from you video or graphic images/company logos that you supply (All graphic templates are specially created for DVedit or individually designed for your projects)
